Do you ever open social media ready to post and suddenly think, “What the heck am I supposed to say?”
You may not need more content ideas. You may simply need to get better at recognizing the content that is already happening around you.
In this episode of the Why Not Today? Podcast, I share lessons from my recent Get Visible Challenge and a simple way to stop overthinking what to post on social media.
One of the biggest shifts is to stop thinking that you have to constantly “create content.” Your client conversations, questions people ask you, lessons you’ve learned, mistakes you’ve made, things you’re working on, and even ordinary moments in your day can all become content.
Build Your Content Toolbox
Different posts have different jobs. Instead of relying on the same type of content over and over, think about having several tools available:
Show: Proof of Work
Let people see what you do, who you help, and what you’re working on.
Tell: Story
Share an experience, lesson, or moment that helps people connect with you and your message.
Teach: Help
Answer a question, share a tip, or teach something useful that demonstrates your expertise.
Connect: Personal
Let people get to know the person behind the business.
Invite: Hand Raiser
Ask a question or create an easy opportunity for someone to respond and start a conversation.
The goal isn’t to use every type of post all the time. It’s to have options so you’re not staring at a blank screen wondering what to say.
One Idea Can Become Multiple Posts
You also don’t need five different things to happen to create five different posts.
Take one experience and ask yourself:
- Can I show it?
- Can I tell the story?
- Can I teach something from it?
- Can I connect through it?
- Can I invite a response?
One ordinary experience can give you several different directions for your content.
Stop Posting Just to Post
Being visible isn’t about filling a content calendar or posting every day just so you can check it off your list.
Ask yourself: What am I posting? Why am I posting it? Who am I hoping to connect with?
When your social media has a purpose, it becomes less about feeding the algorithm and more about creating conversations, building relationships, and helping people understand who you are, what you do, and how you can help.
And remember, posting isn’t the finish line. Respond to comments. Pay attention to who engages. Have conversations. Continue building relationships.
That’s how visibility can eventually lead to trust, referrals, and clients.
Need Ideas for What to Post?
I’ve created 25 Visibility Posts That Lead to More Conversations, Referrals & Clients to help you the next time you’re wondering what to share. https://vipelnk.com/25visibilityposts
Keep the list handy and use it as your own content toolbox. You don’t have to start from scratch every time you post.
Your Why Not Today? challenge: Think of one thing that happened in your business or life this week. Choose one way to share it and post it today.
Because the content is already there. You just need to recognize it and capture it.
