This episode features Kurt Rose, Manager, Aspen Jewelry Design. Kurt shares his courage stories from his first job in High School to a life long career in the jewelry business. We discuss how having a local business led Kurt to joining Rotary Club. Kurt’s journey of being involved in the community started with volunteering with Rotary, being on many non-profit Boards, chairing the Reston Museum’s fundraiser, the Cardboard Boat Regatta to eventfully starting his own non-profit. We spent a lot of time talking about one of my favorite Reston events, the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Kurt shared details of the race from how it got started, to the expertise it takes to build a boat, and how the whole community gets involved. This event is special to me because of the joy it brings my youngest sister, Amanda who has been a participant in the last 2 years.
